THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the legal realm and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
